SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A 40-year-old drunken man died when he fell headlong into a 2.8-meters high and .8-meters wide concrete canal along the national highway of Barangay Dalumpinas Oeste on June 13 here.
Police investigator Officer 1 Rogelio Malag identified the fatality as Dave Patrick Valmonte, 40, resident of this village, single and a construction worker.
Malag said that the victim earlier had a drinking session with a friend.
Norlito R. Casugay, 22, a close friend, told the police he saw Valmonte walking wobbly along the national highway and tried to help the drunken man but, he said the victim, refused.
