BAGUIO CITY -– World Blood Donor Day is simultaneously celebrated on June 14 in Baguio City with voluntary blood donation at the Melvin Jones Grandstand.
The theme for this year is “Blood Connects Us All,” with the local slogan, “Share Life, Give Life.”
Medical Technologist Anthony Baigen, blood program coordinator of the Department of Health – Cordillera Regional Office (DOH-CAR) on Friday, said the ceremony will highlight the connection between the donor and patient-donee through blood transfusion.
The bloodletting activity which will happen at 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 14 will boost the blood reserves of the city through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), Baguio City Chapter.
Re-elected Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan approved the PRC-Baguio activity which banners the collection of “safe and quality blood supply” in the city.
Baigen called for donors who will be medically checked before donation; considering over-all health.
Individuals from 18 to 65 may donate while those 16 and 17 years old need to get a written permission from their parents or guardians.
Blood donations will be accepted at the PRC Baguio Chapter office along Harrison road and at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC). PNA/northboundasia.com
