CAMP OSCAR FLORENDO, La Union – The Ilocos regional office has reported that 329 persons were arrested and 244 firearms were confiscated during the gun ban enforced by the Commission on Elections from January 8 to June 8 this year.
Chief Supt. Ericson Velaquez, police regional director, said that violators included 310 civilians, 12 government officials and employees, 5 security guards and 2 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Confiscated firearms included gun replicas, airgun or airsoft gun, explosives and bladed weapons.
The regional investigation and detective management division (RIDMD) said that 145 persons were arrested in Pangasinan, 62 in La Union, 54 Ilocos Sur and 68 Ilocos Norte.
The breakdown of the 244 assorted firearms : 82-high-powered guns, 162-low-powered, 30 replicas like airguns, 36-explosive grenades and 32 blow guns.
