BAGUIO CITY –- A simple program at the Baguio Convention Center (BCC) prepared by the local government unit (LGU) of Baguio City will be staged to commemorate the 118th Independence Day on Sunday, June 12.
The program will commence at 8 a.m. with the procession of guests and the Entry of Colors by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) cadets.
The singing of the National Anthem, the Baguio Hymn and March will be led by the Baguio City Hall Chorale while the pledge of allegiance to the Filipino flag will be presided by the World War II veterans and the Boy and Girl Scouts of the Philippines.
List of speakers include PMA Supt, Major General Donato San Juan II (Philippine Army) as the keynote speaker; re-elected Baguio City Mayor Mauricio Domogan; outgoing Baguio City Representative Nicasio Aliping Jr who are expected to talk about this year’s theme, “Pagkakaisa, Pag-aambagan, Pagsulong”.
Members of the Baguio City Council are expected to make a “declaration of freedom and unity”.
Students of the Baguio City High School Special Program in the Arts will render the opening presentation expected to depict accounts of the Philippine Independence.
A cultural presentation will also be performed by the “Sakusak Musikal Ensemble” of the Pinsao National High School.
The program will be hosted by Benguet Electric Cooperative Inc. (BENECO) Human Resource (HR) Manager, lawyer Delmar Carino and Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera Regional Office (PIA-CAR) Director Helen Tibaldo.
The program will be followed by a parade through the main thoroughfares of the city to be participated in by the government and non-government sectors divided in five divisions. PNA/northboundasia.com
